Is this thing expensive? Yes. But so was the iPod. Is it perfect on the first pass? No. But neither was the iPod. That's the point. A lot of folks think they remember what the iPod was like when it first came out, and really, what they are remembering is when it finally hit and became big. Not the few years before. That's the key. When people make comparisons that aren't apples to apples, well, it can get a might irritating.
Look, for every invention, some folks will be early adopters, some folks will join during the second wave, then the big wave when the idea tips, and then there'll be those who just wait it out and see. It's not always the same people who take part in each of those phases for every device. How many times have you been the early adopter of some new musician? Long before they made it big? Pretty often. Me, I'm never going to be out on that edge the way you are. When it comes to certain types of technology and gizmos, that's my thing. Am I guaranteed right? Hell no. But on the whole, I have a pretty good grasp of most of the bits and pieces coming down the pike. Even if I can't always articulate why I'm sure of it, I've got the feeling that right here, right now is one of those moments where I see something I blieve will make it big.
Is there maybe a part of it that is me realizing what I've spent on this thing, hoping that it'll pay off the investment? Probably. But, so far, things are looking good from my general direction.
