I'm all about doing things easier and smarter.  Automate that which can be automated so that you don't have to waste time, mental energy, and physical effort to deal with it.   One of those easy enough, but still annoying chores in life, is to go around and change all the clocks for daylight savings time.  They try to make things easier for the majority of people, by making the changes late in the evening on a saturday night/sunday morning.  While it doesn't mean showing up at work early (or late) for me, it still can be annoying.   So a number of years ago, I took matters into my hands and bought an alarm clock that automatically adjusts for daylight savings time.  Great.  No more going to sleep wondering if I'd remembered.  That's awesome.  I even got a second one for my wife.

Unfortunately, that was all purchased before congress, in their "infinite wisdom" decided to change the dates of US Daylight savings time.  Which means I now have clocks that instead of having to adjust once in the fall, and once in the spring, I end up having to change TWICE in the fall, and TWICE in the spring.

Well we forgot about that.  And this morning we overslept by an hour.  Because I forgot completely, that this weekend was the OLD weekend for DST.

*headdesk*

Yay congress!   Yay automatic clocks!   *sigh*   Thankfully, its a Sunday.   We did manage to realize it early enough that we rushed, and got to services this morning in spite of all waking up an hour late.

Now if you'll pardon me, despite the extra hour of sleep, I'm somehow quite exhasuted.  Unfortunately the same cannot be said of my son, who is right at the moment running around with far too much energy for someone that has not had his nap.  I don't know about you, but I want a nap.

sure. You want to figure out how to get my non-networked clocks to *use* NTP? Cause that would make life easier. For true.

There's nothing you can do with a computer to wake you up?

OMG - I have clocks like that too, and now I'm so confused. I was wondering though because I've noticed the clocks in the house are arguing with each other. Spring forward, fall back. I think I can figure this out.

Not easily. Computer is in a different room entirely. Would be nice if I could figure out a way to download something that would re-adjust the clocks though. It would make my life easier.
