Work is kicking my ass--in that really busy, whole lot of stuff needs to get done, and you're down two people kind of way. There's nothing to do, but bear it at this point. But, I can feel it sapping the energy and drive from other areas. Like writing. And reading.
There's a war going on on my lawn. It's between clover, and chickweed. The actual grass is being destroyed in the crossfire. I suspect that the clover is winning. But that chickweed is tenacious stuff, and I'm not sure the clover is up for a long entrenched war.
I saw a heron, at least I think it was a heron, flying low this evening right past my house. I think it was going to take refuge in the brook nearby. Not much fishing for it there, sure we've got some minnows, but those suckers are so tiny, i'm not sure they'd make it as bait. I couldn't help but watch it soar by, it looked simultaneously graceful, and gangly, like it was going to trip over its feet mid-air. It hooked around a tree, and a crow chased after it, then it was gone. I'm always amazed when I run into some "exotic" wildlife in town like that.
American Idol is over tonight. I pretty much don't care. Maybe it's just me, but this was kind of a yawner of a season. While I felt the contestants were technically good at singing, better even than some prior seasons, somehow this year there was a distinct lack of performers. Even those who made it to the end, just felt like the "B" team to me. None of them shined. I'm over the "reality" TV at this point. Now that the writer's are off strike, can we have some real TV again. With good stories, and plot, and good actors, and the like? Okay, probably too much to ask.
Okay, that's enough with the meh.
