Damn my reliance on technology!

It seems that for reasons I have yet to determine, my TiVo did not record the season finale for Eureka.

Gah!

That's what comes from something being so unobtrusively reliable, that you don't think to double check it.  I never get to watch Eureka when it airs, because I'm usually doing something else.   It's what I watch during my morning prep time, while feeding and chilling with the Fearless Mop, before his morning walk.  When I went to find the episode this morning, it wasn't there.  And I can't figure out why.   Looks like I'm going to have to catch it on repeat.  I'm not sure when that will be, weeks from now at earliest.   A real pain, because normally, I flag shows as First run only.  Because if you don't, and its a show that has reruns, you can soon end up with vast quantities of one show, devouring space for other shows, or if you wisely limit the number of episodes for your Tivo to keep, and you're like me and watch under 2 hours of TV a day, the new shows can get pushed out by the repeats before you get to them.

My wife and I agree; what TiVo needs is a way for you to flag particular episodes to get on repeat.  That way if something went wrong, like a power outage in a bad storm, or as sometimes happens at our house your cable box turns itself off, you can tell it to re-record that particular episode again when it shows up in the cycle.

Now I still have to  figure out why my wireless router has been on the fritz.

Your TiVo DOES have a way to do this. Or rather, not exactly what you suggested but the same result.

Go to record show by title, put in Eureka. It'll show you the next one. Select to View Upcoming Episodes. It will bring you to a screen of them, listed by individual show title. Page down until you find it, tag it to record.

Unfortunately, that will only work if the desired episode will be re-aired within the two week period that Tivo stores records for. However, many shows don't repeat within that time frame. (In this instance Eureka does not.) I have to keep remembering to check the schedule every week. Invariably, I'll forget the week its most important to do so.
