The Lovely Wife and I had a our old roomies over for dinner tonight. We had a B'stilla in the freezer, and I think we kept expecting to figure out some occasion to use it. It was too large for just the two of us, and even if it didn't have nuts in it so that the Little Man could not partake, its not like his portion would put a dent in it. So we coordinated a meal with our old frineds whom we haven't hung out with in, I don't know a few weeks? We decided to make it a "north african" themed night. We had hummus, and olives all ready, and the LW ran to the farmer's market where she made a killing of an awesome price on peppers. She roasted those up, and made up a traditional family dish of hers called Fritta.*
MMmmmm. Good food. And good company. As with any visit from the old roomies, the topics drifted all over. From a mutual friend who is in India working on a PhD in Math, to all sorts of other things we caught up on. At one point, the topic turned to Harpsichords. My old roomie got stumped for a second mid conversation, about the what you call someone who builds a harpsichord.
He turned to his wife and asked, "What do you call your cousin who made the harpsichord?"
"Unemployed," she replied.
We about died of laughter. T For the Win!
*No idea on the spelling of said word, because I don't know if its french or spanish, or arabic or something else. But it is roasted peppers, garlic, tomato and olive oil. And it is GOOOOOOD!
