Third day in a row, where I sat down and just wrote in a plain old notebook with a pen during lunch.  Roughly 14 pages.  If I recall my old days, that's probably about 10 manuscript pages.  I'm a little bit surprised that not only is this change up working, but I'm kind of digging the difference.    I don't know if it's going to impact how the words turn out, I guess I'll see when the story is done and I type it up. I can't yet tell how much more I've got to go before the finish, but I'm feeling kind of in the groove.   Fingers crossed -- I might just have a complete draft by the weekend.

Wow! That's super progress. My hand cramps up just writing entries in my for-real journal these days. Stoopid fingers spoiled with typing. :p I'm glad the shakeup is working out for you!

Me too. It's slower than my typing. But I'll take slow and steady. Just finished up about 4 pages at lunch today. Story is progressing. Maybe tonight, if the power stays on, I can get some work done at home too. :(

Well, I guess now you understand why I prefer to do my drafts on paper. Oddly, I write a lot faster with pencil and paper than on a computer keyboard--remember that I regularly made more than 800 words per day on Armand and Eugene, while now I have to exert all my brainpower to get half that many words on the current Bailo revision.

My writing is much slower by hand. At least if I want even a chance to read it later. In fact, I'm going to have to transpose the story this week, or there might be sections I won't understand. Yes, my handwriting is just that poor.

The real issue for me is two-fold. One I needed to do something different to shake off the bland funk that was threatening to overwelm. But also a bit of the practical. It's much easier to snatch a half hour writing during lunch with a notebook and pen than on the computer. With the computer, there's too many distractions. With a notebook, at most I can doodle. And sometimes even that's not altogether useless, depending upon the doodle.
